    To Expose(暴露,揭露) a Trick(把戏,骗局)
    Mr. Payne was on holiday(度假)。 He was staying in a small populous(人口多的) town. One sunny(阳光明媚的) morning, he went to the market and saw a beautiful carpet(地毯) there. This one was big and full of rich colours. He looked at it for a long time, but went away. The next day he passed there and saw it again. He inquired about(问询) its price.
    “This one, sir? This is a very special carpet,” said the man.
    “Yes, but how much is it?”
    “It's quite a special one, sir, so it doesn't sell cheap. It's beautiful, isn't it?”
    “I know, but how much is it?”
    “It's very old, sir. It belonged to a great man many years ago. So can't sell it cheaply.”
    “No, how much is it?” Mr. Payne asked again.
    “A beautiful, old carpet, sir. And it is also a magic(神奇的) carpet. A magic flying carpet. A man came this morning and offered me fifty thousand dollars for it.”
    “Oh,” said Mr. Payne.
    “But 1 like you, sir. You're a very decent(体面的) gentleman. I'll sell it to you. Fifty-five thousand dollars! ”
    “Hum,” Mr. Payne thought for a moment, “All right.”
    “Very good, sir,” said the man. “Will you pay now and take it with you?”
    “No,” said Mr. Payne. “Here's my address. Fly over on the carpet and I'll pay you when you arrive.”
